Bloomfield, NJ...The mens soccer team kept its post season hopes alive, taking a must win game from Nyack College by the score of 2-0. The Deacons improved 3-10-2 overall and 2-4-2 in CACC play. Nyack fell to 6-9-3 overall and finish conference play with a 2-6-1 record.
The Deacons valiant effort to stay alive in the post season hunt was evident fromthe game's begining as Jose Ramos gave BC an early lead at 3:15 when he scored on a penalty kick. The early goal was Bloomfield's highlight of the first half .
The Deacons put the game away late in the second stanza when Victor Rios scored at 86:27, giving BC a 2-0 lead. Julian Gaviria earned his second shutout of the season and first in CACC play, making four saves while facing 18 shots.
The Deacons are now tied with Post University and Felician College for the final two playoff spots in the CACC. Felician will take on Caldwell College on Oct. 25th. A loss by the Golden Falcons would put the Deacons in the playoffs. If Felician wins or ties, then the Deacons must beat Post University on the 25th of October to make the playoffs. Felician holds the head to head tie breaker over BC with a win back on Oct. 18th.
The Deacons will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Queens College to take on the Purple Knights in a non-conference match at 3:30 PM.
